Do I need an agent?

No! You do not need an agent to submit to our press. We welcome authors of all talent and experience levels. If you've got a great story that fits our guidelines, we want to see it!

If I submit a query, do I need to pay anything?

NEVER! We are not a vanity or hybrid press and will never ask any money from our authors. As an author, you provide the literature, and BiCoastal Publications (or Griffin Children's Books) supply a combination of editing, design, formatting, and marketing services.

How much do you pay in royalties?

Although we can not divulge royalty percentages online, because we are a small press, and want to stay competitive we can offer significantly higher royalty percentages than larger firms with more overhead.

Do you pay an advance?

Unfortunately, we do not offer advances at this time. For some of the reasons stated above, we believe that authors should keep a larger portion of their profits than bigger publishing houses can afford. But what we do offer is valuable editing, book design, author support, ISBN assignment, cover design, developmental and copy editing, and worldwide book distribution in both print and ebook wherever books are sold. We offer all this at absolutely no cost to the author--ever. In addition, we provide a complimentary author copy, review copies, and author bulk discounts. Our titles are widely distributed in ebook, paperback, and hardback forms. Audiobook productions are also possible.

How often do you take on new authors?

We take on 2-3 new authors a year at present. Being a small team, it is important that we are able to give each title and author our full attention to ensure we produce quality books.

Are your books printed or e-books only?

The titles we choose to publish will be in ebook and paperback form. Hardcover and Audiobooks are also often produced.
